Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
With completion of this maintenance of surface Water Restoration project of city canal segments (5-9), there will be adequate surface water, stormwater and flood water conveyance capacity. Thus during rain, the surface water levels in the canals will not rise above the acceptable levels and will not backlog the stormwater runoff from the streets. This will bring good and desirable environmental and health affects which includes decreased pollutant loading to surface and ground water, no standing stormwater/floodwater with unfavorable conditions for mosquitoes breeding, no possible contamination to mix with sanitary sewer water. This means less pollutant loadings and better water qualities. Therefore this project will protect public health and offer a healthy and hygienic atmosphere for the public.
