Project Description: |
The need to balance fiscal responsibility with access to quality healthcare remains a significant challenge for providers, payers, and state government. The establishment of statewide inpatient pediatric hospital standards creates an integrated pediatric delivery system designed to facilitate appropriate resource use for Florida's children according to their needed level of care. In order to accomplish this large project, a task force must be created that consists of pediatric healthcare providers, state regulatory agencies, and other pediatric healthcare advocates. The goal of the task force will be to create fair and clinically appropriate pediatric standards for Florida's healthcare delivery system. Similar to the 2005 efforts with the Trauma system, this effort will include an academic research component to fully analyze the pediatric healthcare delivery system in Florida. |
|
Is this a project related to a federal or state declared disaster? |
No |
|
Measurable Outcome Anticipated: |
Without pediatric standards, Florida's pediatric healtcare system is a fragmented model fraught with both duplication of services and a lack of standardized requirements to ensure the highest quality of care for Florida's children. An intergrated delivery system will reduce costs by streamlining services and increase quality by centralizing high acuity, low volume services in the appropriate healthcare facilities. |
