| Statewide Interest: |
| Lee County commits approximately 300 delinquent youth per year to residential commitment facilities. These youth eventually return to the community. Without adequate supervision and linkage to community resources (education, jobs, mental health, substance abuse treatment), these youth are at high risk for returning to commitment programs. Reductions in recidivism provide additional benefits in terms of reducing law enforcement involvement, court involvement, cost to victims and future involvement in the adult criminal justice system. |
