This capital outlay project was identified by a local stormwater master plan. It is intended to both reduce the risk of flooding in a nearby residential neighborhood and reduce pollutant loading to the Indian River Lagoon, a priority water body in need of restoration and special protection according to the Surface Water Improvement and Management Act of 1987. This project has also been identified by St. John’s River Water Management District and the Army Corps of Engineers as a management measure for ecosystem restoration in the Indian River Lagoon. |
