This project directly addresses the state and nationwide nursing shortage as well as the job and health care education access disparity for underserved members of our community. Project Description:
The Morton Plant Hospital Commuity Education Center will be a regional center filling the gaps in resources, space, technology and expertise to provide the community with the best possible health care. The project will allow construction for a new 120,000 square foot facility including a 250-300 person auditorium, conference and classroom space, and provide for the education for our state's future nurses and physicians while also providing much needed community education, screening and educational follow-up services. This project supports our National MAGNET designation as a nursing center.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
The Morton Plant Hospital Community Educaation Center will increase the number of nursing instructors available through partnership with state universities and colleges, increase by 48 LPN and RN nurses per year in the community, community courses avaailable for families, physician education to increase access for the overall community, as well as increase access to all health care continuum systems for the medically underprivileged in our community.
