Project Description: |
Using evidence-based best practices, the goal of this project is to increase public safety and reduce offender recidivism by (1) increasing local community capacity to place and treat non-violent mentally ill ex-offenders, (2) diverting seriously mentally ill and forensically complex non-violent offenders from local jails to community treatment, (3) providing intensive intervention and supervision, wrap-around case management, needed treatment and support, including short-term transitional housing, and employment services for non-violent ex-offenders returning to the community from prison. The project will coordinate service and collaboration at the community level to include mental health, substance abuse, housing, employment, social services, health care, local corrections and criminal justice abuse agencies. A total of 200 mentally ill and forensically complex ex-offenders are expected to be served in the first year. |
