Project Description: |
SCC's new Altamonte Springs campus, for which groundbreaking is scheduled for March 1, 2006, will be a full-service urban community college campus. A broad range of courses will be offered on this site, along with necessary support services such student enrollment and advising, library facilities, bookstore, food service, etc. In particular, the campus will emphasie adult education and training in nursing and allied health fields.
When this project was originally planned in 2001-2002, toatal costs were estimated at $24,836,268. SCC received full state PECO funding for this project over the ensuing three fiscal years. However, because state funding was allocated over a period of years, and due in part to the several hurricanes our region has experienced over the last two years, the costs of steel, concrete and labor have escalated dramatically. We now estimate the total cost of the project at $30,000,000, leaving a funding shortfall of $5,163,732. |
