Project Description: |
Acquiring employment for the disabled is a monumental task. Once employment is in place, maintaining the job is crucial. Finding an individual to shadow the employee is a necessary component to ensure success. When a problem arises, the staff member functions as a liaison with the employer. This individual can be proactive in anticipating challenges, new routines, new job expectations and fine tuning the position. Through proper job development and job coaching, the JARC Supported Employment Program seeks to support adults with disabilities in the workforce to become productive and independent members of the community. |

Measurable Outcome Anticipated: |
By providing the proper training, evaluation, placement and follow-up, we will be able to place clients in competitive employment in the community. Evaluation of placement will take place weekly for the first six months of employment and monthly for the second six months of employment. Follow along will continue on a weekly basis for the first year of employment. This will include weekly meetings with the employer and the employee. The employee will continue in the JARC "job club" and mentor other clients as they prepare for competitive employment.
Successful job placement will be identified as a client holding a minimum of 20 hours/week of paid competitive employment for a minimum of 6-9 months of continual employment. This will enable the client/employee to decrease reliance on Federal/State entitlements (i.e. Medicaid waiver employment/transportation) and increase their ability to access services in the community and form natural supports within the community as well.
Job Development will identify new opportunities for job placement. It is anticipated that the job development specialist will identify 10 new placements per year. |
