The Sarasota Conservation Foundation (SCF) is an established land trust created to protect the environment, character and biodiversity of the Gulf Coast's bays, beaches and barrier islands for future generations by: holding conservation easements and owning nature preserves, educating for responsible land stewardship, collaborating with individuals, organizations and communities.
Through public/private partnerships such as those represented in this request, SCF intends to create an "emerald necklace" of conserved lands around the waterways of Florida's Gulf Coast.
Sarasota Conservation Foundation, Inc. (SCF) is a non-profit organization located in Osprey that has developed a broad base of community support through its membership and collaborative efforts in accomplishing its mission to protect the environment and conserve bays, beaches, and barrier islands for the citizens of Florida to continue to enjoy for many generations into the future.
This request will provide the necessary funding assistance for capital improvements that will conserve, renovate and upgrade five historically significant buildings on the property at Bay Preserve at Osprey. The property will be used for public recreational and educational activities as well as a venue for youth sport activities. This project is Phase I with the acquisition and improvements of six (6) additional parcels in the next 24-48 months to be completed in subsequent phases.
