Osswald Park is a 30-acre regional park which was recently annexed by the City of Fort Lauderdale. It is one of the county's busiest community parks and serves residents from many areas of Broward County, not just the City.

Project Description:
This request is for funding for improvements and renovation of the existing amenities at Osswald Park. The following amenities /facilities are in need of improvement or renovation: - Community Center Building - interior remodel to include improved lighting, ceilings and bathrooms o Playground - replace safety surfacing o Golf Course - the driving range area now located next to the soccer field needs to be relocated to the golf course area near the putting green o Sports fields - need to be redesigned; sod, irrigation and lighting are needed for greater use, safety and efficiency o Tennis courts and shuffleboard courts - must be constructed in another area of the park due to the new library construction; lighting, wind screens and awnings will be needed o Library building - (once vacated by the county) renovate for additional community rooms and staff office space o Walking Paths - asphalt and paver pathways repaired or replaced o Lighting/Fencing - redesign and replace the lighting and fencing to provide adequate coverage for public areas and to provide security for the park. At the present time, the lighting throughout the park is not adequate and many areas needing lights do not have them. Community use after dark is limited and security is poor. Fencing throughout the park is in need of replacement

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
The park contains a community center building, baseball/softball fields, football/soccer fields, picnic shelters, tennis courts, a fitness room, a cricket pitch, basketball courts, a game room, a walking path, a playground and a 3-hole-par-3 executive golf course with putting green. Also on the property is a Broward County Library building that will be vacated for City use when the new library is built on the southwest corner of the main park entrance. The facilities and amenities at the park are in need of repair or replacement in order to provide the citizens in the community with safe quality recreation services.
