Project Title: S.W. 11th Avenue Bridge Repair Project (Swing Bridge) Date Submitted 1/13/2006 11:18:47 AM

Sponsors: Dawson

Statewide Interest:
The New River Swing Bridge is one of the oldest and longest swing bridges in the state. It is one of five swing bridges related to water bodies connected to the Atlantic Intracoastal water ways that traverses the entire length of Florida's east coast. It is located in the historic Sailboat Bend Neighborhood in the City. Repairs facilitated by these funds would extend the life of this historic structure by twenty years. Furthermore, despite the age of the bridge (78 years old) it is still a working bridge that carries daily commuter traffic. These funds will provide for the continued, daily use of this bridge.
