Project Description: |
Construction of a flood barrier along the Caloosahatchee River and Billy's Creek to minimize the possibility of water flowing back into the neighborhood. The flood barrier will be constructed to an elevation of 8.5 feet which is 1 foot above the estimated 50 year flood elevation of 7.5 feet. The Dean Park Neighborhood is a group of locally significant homes built in the early to mid-20th century with noteworthy and unusual architectural features which make them historically distinctive. This project would fund a small, localized drainage project to provide flood protection by designing and constructing a flood barrier at the perimeter of the drainage area. A localized storm water drainage problem in the neighborhood has resulted in the consistent inundation of some of the homes resulting in property damage and jeopardized viability to these structures. |
