| The beef cattle industry is a critical contributor to Florida's agricultural well-being. Recent analyses from the induustry and academics indicates Florida calf loss between conception and weaning is disproportionately higher than in other parts of the USA:11% total loss, 3-5% highher. The financial impact on the industry is significant estimated at $20 - 30 million per annum in Florida. This study is designed to pinpoint when and where these losses occur and to provide recommendations to reduce these losses and the resultant financial impact. |
