This Facility will serve as an active fire station to provide fire protection to one of the most underserved areas of Sumter County, and will provide a Firefigter Training District Public Safety Department and Lake-Sumter Community College. The training facility will provide for Firefighter, Emergency Medical Thecnician, Homeland Security, Hazardous Materials, Incident Command and First Respinder training need of fire departments, public safety departments and other related agencies located in Sumter County and the surrounding area. |

Project Description: |
This project is a joint use partnership between the Sumter County Fire Rescue, The Village Center Community Development Fire Department and Lake-Sumter Community College to construct a fire station and fire training facility on the Sumterville Campus of Lake-Sumter Community College. The project would provide fire service for the central part of Sumter County and provide training facilities for the fire departments and related agencies in Sumter County and the surrounding area. The fire station would be operated by Sumter County Fire Rescue and the training facility would be managed by Lake-Sumter Community College. The facility would consist of a three bay fire station with living quarters, a classroom area, a burn/rescue lab building and tower as well as an outdoor burn lab with associated facilities. The fire station would be constructed for twenty four hour staffing, seven days a week. |
