Project Description:
This project entails teaching Florida residents resiliency-creating tools in order to help them recover from past hurricane seasons, as well as cope with the stress of property taxes and insurance and other financial stressors. Research now definitively shows that stress underlies most physical ills. Teaching people techniques that they can make part of their usual routine or immediate response to stress will create many benefits. There will be less illness, lower blood pressure, less substance abuse, better focus, being in the right frame of mind for learning, better relationships. This would be utilized to hire personnel to market trainings and a website, create the website, hire the trainers as well as make material available on state and other relevant websites. This project has been successfully piloted through funding from the Childrens Trust after the 2005 hurricane season.
