Project Description:
This project provides for the additional 5.0 MG production capacity of the City of Boca Ratons irrigation quality reclaimed water system. In realizing the need to offset demands on the regional water supply and system, the City began project IRIS (In-City Reclamation Irrigation System) in early 1990. Due to population growth in South Florida and recent drought events, both the need and demand for irrigation quality reclaimed water has increased dramatically. In order to meet the increased needs and demands for irrigation quality reclaimed water, the City must increase their production capacity. This project will result in the 5.0 MG expansion and construction of the current on-site 10.0 MGD irrigation quality reclaimed water production capacity facility to a 15.0 MGD irrigation quality reclaimed water production capacity facility. The expansion of the current irrigation quality reclaimed water production capacity to 15 million gallons a day will result in the use of 100% of available effluent for irrigation quality reclaimed water thus ultimately providing an offset of demand on the regional water system.
