Project Description: |
P.A.S.T. is part of a statewide consortium dedicated to highlighting Florida's African American History. The project will focus on historic sites in Central Florida and fund marketing and educational material designed to attract additional visitors and students to historic African American sites in Orange County. Sites to be included are the Dr. William Monroe Wells Heritage House, the Well's Built Museum of African American History and Culture, the Mosley House Museum, and the Zora Neale Hurston Museum of Fine Arts and Humanities. Funds will support P.A.S.T.'s development of educational material, marketing efforts, and personnel to coordinate the African American heritage educational and visitor's initiative in Orange County. |

Increase the amount of literature and information that will be available for distribution statewide, increase visitors to Orange County by 15%, Educate individuals regarding the African American contribution to music and gain recognition nationally for Orange County as a destination for cultural heritage programming, increase awareness of entertainment and cultural options in Orange County by developing packages for various events that include theme parks and other outlets, market Orange County as a cultural tourism destination through collaborations with media and the Converntion and Visitor's Bureau, and present a high quality music festival during Black Music Month that will increase the number of out of town participants. |
