Statewide Interest:
The project extends central sewer service eliminating approximately 600 individual septic tanks contributing to the water quality degradation of the northeast region of the Choctawhatchee Bay. The bay is a SWIM priority waterbody in NWFWMD and it is on the 303 (d) List of Impaired Waters per Clean Water Act. Project also reduces adverse pollution for the bay�s shellfish harvesting area, specifically those areas of critical concern identified in the Annual re-evaluation of Choctawhatchee Bay Shellfish Harvesting Area through June 2002, prepared by Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

Project Description:
Eliminate existing septic tanks that are in the immediate proximity to the surface waters of the Choctawhatchee Bay and its estuaries. Extension of existing Freeport STP treatment and disposal systems.
