Project Description: |
This initiative seeks to implement a series of algal turf scrubbing systems to provide water quality treatment improvments to the Suwannee River, a Suwannee River Water Management District (SRWMD) Surface water Improvement and Management (SWIM) program priority water body, and reduce nitrogen & phosphorus loads to the Gulf of Mexico supplemental to BMP programs associated with the Suwannee River Partnership. In addition to surface water improvements, the resulting water quality enhancements will protect public health by removing pollutants from surface water bodies that are extensively used by the public for recreational purposes such as swiming, fishing and other work related activities, while minimizing public costs and impacts to private property. |
