Highlands County is being forced to take over and repair the privately owned utility, Thunderbird Hills WWTP because of DEP's inability to enforce their rules and make a plant that has been operating without a permit since 02/15/01 and has had multiple violations. On 01/06/06 DEP filed a Motion of Temporary Injunction seeking immediate compliance from Landmark Utilities. |

Project Description: |
Abandoment of the existing Thunderbird Hills WWTP and construction of master lift station and sewer force main system to connect the existing sewer system to the City of Sebring's sewer system. |

Measurable Outcome Anticipated: |
Once county receives the plant through abandonment, the system will be connected to the City of Sebring Sewer System. This new connection will provide approximatley 400 customers with a plant that is in compliance with DEP and will no longer have odor problems. |
