Serenity House of Volusia proposes to add access to 1,825 residential treatment bed days, 50 clinical assessments, and access to community aftercare services for 50 military veterans with co-occurring emotional and substance abuse disorders. Services will be provided in a new 76 bed specialized treatment facility purchased by Volusia County and deeded to Serenity House. Priority for access to this program will be provided for veterans who may become homeless without this intervention. With an average length of stay of 90 days of intensive treatment, and assessments and access to outpatient community case management, 50 high risk veterans will be served annually. Referrals will be accepted from agencies throughout north central Florida. A specialized case management component will insure that access to safe and sober housing and support services are provided to each veteran after completion of residential treatment.
