Statewide Interest:
On a state level, our families are breaking down and children and communities are suffering from the breakdown in the family structure. Much of this breakdown is a result of the lack of presence by strong fathers. Many breakdowns also ocurr because young fathers are ill equipped to play their role in the family. This unique program will provide needy directly services to young fathers in the form of mentoring, education, support and guidance.

Project Description:
Young Fathers of Central Florida will provide counseling and direct care services to fathers between the ages of 14-25 years of age. The programming will include parenting classin, educational counseling, crime and drug prevention, child support obligation education, anger mangement, and "Dad to Dad" mentoring. The program will also provide the guidance and support needed to become better fathers and productive members of their communities at large.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
The program will improve the family structure of countless families through education, employment, drug treatment, parent education, counseling and mentoring of young fathers who would not have these skills otherwise. By strengthening the family, our society as a whole will benefit in many numberable (drop in crime rate and drug usage) and inumerable ways (happier and more pleasant contributors to society).
