This project will enable the Flagler Museum to continue to meet the goals of the Statewide Cultural Plan-strengthening the economy by attracting tens of thousands of visitors and and millions of cultural tourism dollars, promoting learning through its extensive free programs for thousands of schoolchildren and teachers, building leadership and creating cultural advocates by hosting important civic events and advancing preservation and design through ongoing restoration of the 105-year old Whitehall mansion as well as through the Flagler Kenan Pavilion, completed in 2005. |

Project Description: |
This project is the fifth and final restoration/renovation phase for the Flagler Museum and will involve the installation of an elevator in the portion of the Museum facility housing the hotel addition, newly renovated and expanded Archives and Research Library facilities, and newly constructed staff offices. This project will make the second floor of the Museum completely accessible both to elders and the disabled, enabling them to view the second floor Museum Collections and Changing Exhibits and participate in events such as Gallery Talks and Exhibit Openings. |
