Project Description:
The Family Literacy Program will provide students: academic skills building, specifically in reading, math, and comprehension; tutoring, assistance with homework, and healthy socialization. Parents will receive parental literacy skills, including adult education opportunities at Daytona Beach College (at no charge) such as Learning Activity curriculum, and general education development (GED); job development activities; and family life skills training. The program will emphasize parent and child reading activity and computer skills development at the Bethune Learning Center. 140 to 150 high-risk youth, and 65-70 adults will be served.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Parents will be empowered to complete post-secondary education, participate in training, participate in unsubsidized employment or seek career advancement. More specifically, 85% of the students will significant improve their math, reading, and comprehension skills; 80% of the students will show improvement in their Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) scores; 65% of the students parents will participate in the Family Literacy Program; 65% �70% of the adults from the Family Literacy Program will become employed and 55% - 60% of the adults will become self-sufficient within 2-3 years. Assessments, surveys, and tests will be given to monitor the project�s progress.
