Statewide Interest: |
This project supports the State "Safer Highways" program. Olive Road is a State facility defined as an urban local road and classified as a Minor Arterial Roadway that connects Scenic Highway and CR 95A. Florida Department of Transportation had this facility planned for a two-lane to four-lane project. The cost estimated in 2002 for right-of-way alone was $64M Dollars, with major citizen impact. Based on the facility definition (Urban Local) and funding for SIS, and Regional Roadways, no apparent solution was in sight. This approach "Corridor Improvement" offers an opportunity to develop a roadway that supports the existing traffic (LOS) and provides Bike and Pedestrian Features for area residential, commercial, and educational developments. The Cost identified within the Transportation Planning Organization for this approach is Approximately $14M to complete (2008 Planning Estimates). |
