Project Description: |
This request is for continuation funding for this nationally recognized project established in Miami-Dade in 2000 that is currently funded inline item and proviso (Line item 2318 for $666,000 for 07-08) and has been recommended in the Governor's budget for the past three years. The program increases the amount of court-ordered child support collected; assists noncustodial parents to establish a pattern of regular child support payments by obtaining and maintaining unsubsidized employment; and strengthens families by motivating absent parents to accept their parental responsibilities and help them improve their relationship with their children. The Miami-
Dade County NCEP program has assisted more than 1,900 dads benefiting 5,400 children since mid-2000. Since 1996, statewide the program has successfully served over 9,000 noncustodial parents benefiting 24,000 children, and helped lessen their dependence on public assistance. |
