Project Description: |
Founded in 1949, the Louise Graham Regeneration Center provides daily job skills training, work experience, supported employment and independent living skills in a sheltered workshop setting for 60 developmentally disabled low income adults annually through real world, light industrial paper and cardboard recycyling, packaging, and green cleaning solutions packaging and sales. The 24,000 square foot center is 100% paid for, and is in an enterprise zone targeted for redevelopment in the minority community in south St. Petersburg. This request is for (1) two light trucks to pick up and deliver paper and cardboard for recycling from area businesses that will be sorted by consumers, and (2) to build out about 5,000 square feet of additional air conditioned workrooms within the center for up to 45 additional consumers to be used for skills training and work space. The program has a waiting list that is 25% of its overall capacity. |
