Okaloosa County Agriculture is a part of the 100 billion agriculture industry in the State of Florida. It is vital that agriculture and specifically agricultural products be maintained and enhanced if possible. Agriculture and forestry activities from the private sector contribute approximately 20 million to the local economy each year. This facility will meet the goals of Chapter 570.07 by facilitating activities that foster a better understanding and more efficient cooperation among producers, dealers, buyers, and the consuming public in the promotion and marketing of Floridas agricultural and agricultural business products; and by providing a facility wherein trade breakfasts, luncheons, and dinners can be sponsored and promotional materials distributed in connection with meetings, conferences, and conventions of dealers, buyers, food editors, and merchandising executives that will assist in the promotion and marketing of Floridas agricultural and agricultural Business products to the consuming public.
The project plan includes appropriate design in accordance with state guidelines for the construction of the building for use as a Hurricane Shelter.
