Project Description: |
Implementation of a public service campaign encouraging English and Spanish speaking people with diabetes, their healthcare teams and their families in Florida to take aggressive steps to manage a disease that is present in more than 10% of Florida�s population. Services developed, provided and implemented by the campaign will include the following items.
1. Television PSAs;
2. Radio PSAs;
3. Print PSAs;
4. Patient education materials;
5. Materials catering to healthcare professionals;
6. Motivational tools and aids to facilitate the proper management of the disease;
7. A web portal for Floridians with diabetes that will serve as a clearinghouse for information and resources related to diabetes management;
8. Public relations outreach to vulnerable populations throughout Florida;
9. Direct mail to all healthcare professionals in Florida stressing the importance of proper diabetes management among their patients; and
10. All campaign elements will target English and Spanish speaking audiences.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated: |
It is expected that the state will experience the following as a result of this effort.
1. More patients with diabetes will actively manage their disease and �A1C� levels placing them at a lower risk for heart attacks, strokes, blindness and amputations.
2. More people with diabetes will know how to properly manage their disease and �A1C� levels;
3. More patients with diabetes and their healthcare professionals will be involved in the active management of diabetes and �A1C� levels;
4. More healthcare professionals will know how to properly manage the diabetes epidemic;
