Project Description: |
New Beginnings CDC and Envision America Inc. Prodigal Solution currently works with (20) twenty ex offenders transition from incarceration to productive, crime-free lives in the community, thereby increasing public safety and reducing recidivism. We provide integrated services in the community to ex-offenders, which help them acquire the resources, skills and support necessary to establish a constructive life "on the outside." Prodigal Solution focuses specifically on offenders, linking them with the housing, drug treatment, mental health services, job training and other support services they need to make a successful transition into the community. Through our comprehensive efforts and partnership, we currently have linked (eight) ex offenders to successful employment. Prodigal Solution addresses the needs of prisoners in transition services before they are released, through the resources of the criminal justice system and our community partners. Prodigal Solution believes that ex-offenders with strong family and community ties have greater success in reintegrating into the community and avoiding incarceration. In order to successfully reintegrate into the community, it is essential that ex-offenders possess the skills and support necessary to enter and compete in the workforce. Prodigal Solution is designed to draw on the unique strengthens of its partners that may not readily collaborate with the government under more typical funding mechanisms. Services include but are not limited to 1). Identify and recruit participants: 2). Provide basic intake services, including assessments of needs and interests: 3). Offer each participants a free independent, and informed choice among service provider of secular non-religious-based services: 4).Provide ongoing case management in coordination with the specialized services provider and 5). Aid recipients in making full use of all services available through the local One Stop Career Center, including when possible, Individual Training Accounts, 6). Recruit employers that are willing to employ program participants. New Beginnings has recently designed a data based called 561 to provide referrals to providers who are in need of supplemental specialized services. These services include but are not limited to mental health, continuing education, adult education center, community colleges, charter schools, transitional housing, gang prevention, substance abuse treatment, HIS/AIDS treatment, Legal Aid, etc. These listing are in addition to the specialized service provider list.
We will provide intensive follow-up case management within the first three month of employment to help them navigate any challenge that arises through assessment, service planning, linkage, monitoring, advocacy, and skills training. In addition, a hotline will be set up for participant to call when they need to talk with a staff about how to handle conflicts with work colleagues or how to resolve other problems they have encountered. Relapsed prevention plan will be develop and coordination with probation/parole officer work schedule, so that conflicting appointments can be avoided other service includes services include on-going support and reassessment, career counseling, mediation, and re-employment assistance.
