559.922  Motor vehicle repair training; financial assistance.--The department is authorized to establish by rule a program to provide financial assistance for individuals to undertake technical training or courses of study in motor vehicle repair. The department may use up to 10 percent of the annual proceeds from the registration of motor vehicle repair shops for this purpose. The program must comply with the following general criteria:

(1)  Motor vehicle repair shops shall submit a financial assistance application for technical training on behalf of their employees.

(2)  Motor vehicle repair shops that receive financial assistance for any coursework, seminar, inservice training, or other such program shall submit to the department proof of attendance or completion of the program. If such proof is not provided, the motor vehicle repair shop shall refund to the department the sum of the financial assistance received for the program not attended or completed.
