459.007  Licensure by endorsement.--Any person desiring to be licensed by endorsement shall:

(1)  Have successfully completed a resident internship of not less than 12 months in a hospital approved for this purpose by the Board of Trustees of the American Osteopathic Association or any other internship program approved by the board upon a showing of good cause by the applicant.

(2)  Be a graduate of a college recognized and approved by the American Osteopathic Association.

(3)  Have passed all parts of the examination conducted by the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners or other substantially similar examination approved by the board.

(4)  Be the holder of a valid, active license to practice osteopathic medicine in at least one jurisdiction in the United States in which the current requirements for licensure are equivalent to or more stringent than those in this state.

(5)  Have actively and continuously engaged in the practice of osteopathic medicine for the period of time after being initially licensed to practice osteopathic medicine in another jurisdiction, which initial licensure shall have occurred no more than 5 years after the applicant obtained a passing score on the examination conducted by the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners or other substantially similar examination approved by the board; however, such practice of osteopathic medicine may have been interrupted for a period totaling no more than 2 years or for a longer period of time if the board determines that the interruption of the osteopathic physician's practice of osteopathic medicine for such longer period has not adversely affected the osteopathic physician's present ability and fitness to practice osteopathic medicine.
