233.43  Duties of superintendent relating to instructional materials.--

(1)  The duties and responsibilities of each superintendent of schools for the requisition, purchase, receipt, storage, distribution, use, conservation, records, and reports of, and management practices and property accountability concerning, instructional materials shall be prescribed by policies of the district school board. Such policies shall also provide for an evaluation of any instructional materials to be requisitioned that have not been used previously in the schools of the district. The duties and responsibilities include keeping adequate records and accounts for all financial transactions for funds collected pursuant to s. 233.46(4). Such records and accounts shall be a component of the educational service delivery scope in a school district best financial management practices review under ss. 11.515 and 230.23025.

(2)  Each superintendent of schools shall notify the Department of Education by April 1 of each year the state-adopted instructional materials that will be requisitioned for use in his or her district. The notification shall include a district plan for instructional materials use to assist in determining if adequate instructional materials have been requisitioned.
