Condemned and destroyed animals; limitation on payment to owner.
585.10 Condemned and destroyed animals; limitation on payment to owner.--The department may indemnify and reimburse the owners of all animals condemned and destroyed by order of the department in cases in which such animals have reacted to the tuberculin test or any test approved by the United States Department of Agriculture for brucellosis (Bang's disease), or in which such animals have been exposed to, and are liable to spread, tuberculosis or brucellosis. However, when cattle are involved, such indemnity or reimbursement shall not exceed the sum of $50 for grade cattle, $100 for registered purebred cattle, and $100 for dairy cattle, except in the case of complete cattle herd liquidation, in which event such indemnity or reimbursement shall not exceed the sum of $100 for any one animal.
