GENERAL BILL by Education ; Wilson ; (CO-INTRODUCERS) Rich ; Miller ; Bullard
Discounted Computers/Students; creates program to offer discounted computers & Internet access to public school students in grades 5 through 12; requires DOE to negotiate terms with computer manufacturers or nonprofit corporations; requires Digital Divide Council to implement pilot project to assist low-income students with purchasing discounted computers & Internet access services; provides for funding & authorizes council to accept grants to implement project, etc.
