CS/SB 1920: Wrongful Incarceration Compensation

GENERAL BILL by Judiciary ; Judiciary

Wrongful Incarceration Compensation; authorizes certain individuals to petition court to determine whether they were actually innocent; provides criteria for determining whether person was actually innocent; authorizes actually innocent person to apply to Financial Services Dept. for compensation; provides for compensation exceeding certain amount to be paid in installments over 10-year period; requires release & waiver of any claims against state prior to payment of compensation, etc.
