SB 598: Contraception

GENERAL BILL by Detert ; (CO-INTRODUCERS) Lynn

Contraception; Requiring that health insurers and health maintenance organizations provide health insurance coverage for prescription contraceptive drugs and devices approved by the Food and Drug Administration and other related outpatient contraceptive services; prohibiting a health insurance policy or health maintenance contract from imposing an unusual copayment, coinsurance requirement, deductible, or waiting requirement for obtaining prescription contraceptive drugs or devices or certain outpatient contraceptive services; authorizing a religious employer to request, and requiring a health insurance policy or health maintenance contract to grant, an exclusion from coverage under the policy or contract for coverage for prescription contraceptive drugs or devices or certain outpatient contraceptive services under certain conditions, etc.

Effective Date: July 1, 2012, and applies only to contracts and policies issued or renewed on or after that date
