The bill requires the Florida Commission on Offender Review (Commission) to provide a statistical analysis of actions taken by the Commission when conducting an annual review of its objective parole guidelines to the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
The Florida Department of Corrections must provide the Commission with information regarding an inmate’s use of vocational training, substance abuse treatment, and educational and other self-betterment programs while the inmate was incarcerated. Further the bill requires the Commission to review such information when determining whether to modify an inmate’s presumptive parole release date.
If approved by the Governor, or allowed to become law without the Governor’s signature, these provisions take effect July 1, 2025.
