Project Description:
The need for residential treatment and supportive housing for individuals disabled by mental illness has been well documented in our community. It has currently been identified as a priority in both the Comprehensive Health and Social Service Master Plan developed by the Alliance for Human Services and the Department of Children and Families, District Eleven, Mental Health and Substance Abuse Plan 2000-2001. This population is currently under served in Miami-Dade County. Fellowship House would like to request $600,000 to assist our organization to provide individuals with severe mental illness with safe, decent and affordable housing and the necessary supportive services that are essential to their long-term adaptation to community living. The funding will be utilized to renovate existing residential facilities and purchase needed equipment, furniture and other items necessary for daily living.

Is this a water project as described in Chapter 2002-291, Laws of Florida? No

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Fellowship House has documented significant program effectiveness that reflects decreased psychiatric hospitalization, incarceration and institutionalization as well as increased functional capacity, employability and community reintegration. Fellowship House provides more than housing and supportive services. It provides a community of long-term support, acceptance and hope for people that have stigmatized by the devastating effects of severe mental illness.
