Project Description:
Provides enhanced services to victims of domestic violence at risk of lethality. Program begin October 1999 as a result of the federally funded (48 month limit) Byrne Grant through FDLE. INVEST mission was to identify and intervene in the most potentially lethal Domestic Violence cases. Domestic Violence police reports and referrals from other agencies are reviewed daily and assessed for potential lethality. Cases identified as high risk for lethality are followed up by both advocates and sheriff's officers who work together to provide services to victims and accountability to perpetrators. INVEST clients receive intense case management and advocacy throughout civil and/or criminal processes and until their situation becomes more safe or they choose to exit the program.

Funding for this proposal would (1)provide reduction in Domestic Violence homicides by intervening in lethal domestic violence cases as soon as they are reported (2) increase community awareness on all aspects of domestic violence through community training (3) increase prosecution among those offenders involved in poten. Program has decreased domestic violence homicides by 37% since October 1999
