Statewide Interest:
The basin has been designated by the Governing Board of the St. Johns River Water Management District as a priority Surface Water Improvement and Management (SWIM) watershed. The basin contains water bodies of significance to the state such as the Econlockhatchee River, the Wekiva River, and Lakes Jesup, Harney and Monroe. The basin also encompasses a major black bear corridor to the Ocala National Forest.

Project Description:
The Middle St. Johns River Basin Initiative is an ongoing project to restore and enhance the middle St. Johns River and its tributaries. This basin is in an area where population and water use are expected to grow. Funding through this initiative will help to restore and enhance this portion of the river and its lakes and tributaries. Examples of subprojects that could be funded through this request follow. This list is in alphabetical order and is not a complete listing. ? Deep Creek Stormwater Retrofit ?
