Project Description: |
This new program will train and mentor highly qualified and graduate students to conduct cutting-edge researh on aging. This program will create a new PhD in Edipemiology with a concentration on aging and will create a new Masters Degree in Aging and Geriatric Research. Florida has one of the largest and fastest growing older populations in the country and lacks a nationally recognized program for training world-class leaders in the area of reseach on aging. The older population uses a majority of the state health care resources and has a large impact on health care expenditures. Training experts who will accelerate and expand the research and knowledge of how to address issues related to the older population and to the aging processes is an important educational and public health need in Florida. |
