| The highway modifications are part of one of the largest planned redevelopment projects in central Florida. A new downtown for the City of Temple Terrace is planned as a pedestrian oriented, walkable community that will set an example of sustainable, urban development in an inner ring City. The project has generated national interest and will certainly be a focus of other communities in the State of Florida. |

| Project Description: |
| SR580 and SR583 traverse the aging central business district of Temple Terrace. The State roads are overcrowded, outdated in their design, pedestrian unfriendly, and, in short are the primary detriment to the successful redevelopment of Temple Terrace, as identified by 13 developers in 2004. The multi-phased plan to improve these roadways envisions the construction of 18 foot medians, new intersection signalization, improved pedestrian crossings, wider sidewalks, access management improvements, and landscaping. |
