CBIRS Request 1396

Community Budget Issue Requests - Tracking Id #1396
Keaton Beach Fire Rescue

Requester: Taylor Board of County Commiss Organization: Taylor Board of County Commissioners

Project Title: Keaton Beach Fire Rescue Date Submitted 1/13/2006 10:47:14 AM

Sponsors: Argenziano

Statewide Interest:
With residential development underway in the communities of Keaton Beach, Dekle Beach, Dark Island, and Cedar Island, there are no fire rescue facilities in th eimmediate area. County fire rescue is twnety miles away from these communities. We do not have any type of rescue facilities in the event of any type of disaster in the immediate area. Not only is there a great deal of residential development under way but this is a very busy fishing and boating area. There are several large residential areas either under construction or will be under construction in the near future. In addition to the need for a fire rescue facility and the number of peopl ein the area, building code requires many of the new homes to be 22 feet above sea level making adequate facilities even more critical.
