Project Description:
1) Comprehensive, interdisciplinary clinical services (pediatric medical and specialty services, pediatric dentistry, pediatric psychology, social work, audiology, nutrition, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech and language therapy) provided to at least 6,000 children each year. These services are provided within the context of an interdisciplinary training program that meets many service needs not otherwise covered by Medicaid or SCHIP; 2) Comprehensive, interdisciplinary clinical training to students and post-doctoral professionals provided to a minimum of 30 short term (<300 hours/year) and 70 long term (>300 hours/year) trainees; 3) Continuing education (distance learning on issues related to developmental disabilities and children with special health care needs provided to 230+ CMS staff STATEWIDE a minimum of 2 times/year, and to 6,000 professional and/ or consumers in the community; 4) Resources for policy analysis, bioethical issues, medical privacy issues, quality assurance, and program evaluation provided to Children's Medical Services, legislative offices, and other branches of the State government.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
1) Comprehensive health care needs of at least 6,000 CSHCN addressed each year. Many of the services provided are not reimbursable by other sources, but represent state and national priority issues (e.g., mental and behavioral health; obesity); 2) Upon completion of interdisciplinary training program, 75% of students (approx. 55/year) involved in training enter workforce within 5 years as professional in Florida with statewide distribution of service providers with statewide distribution of service providers with expertise in assessment and treatment of children with special healthcare needs; 3) knowledge/ competence of CMS staff working with CSHCN improves; 4) Policy decisions/ development based on current research evidence, provided to state agencies Mailman Center for Child Development.
