Statewide Interest:
Immediate access for all Floridians to a poison specialist via a national 800 number for any type of poison question or concern. This 24-hour 7-day operation prevents emergency room visits, saving health care dollars. Poison prevention &education awareness in the community is also a major component of this program. Preparedness for biological attack and rumors of same.

Project Description:
Enhance the existing funds for the 3 statewide poison centers in order to strive for salary equity between Poison Specialist(SPI) and area nurses. Poison Specialists are the reason poison centers are so cost effective and there is great disparity between SPIs and area nurses salary ranges.
