Project Description: |
Completion of project phase III, consisting of expanded coordination and meeting spaces. This regional operation center serves as a back-up system for other emergency operation centers in the region. Completion of project phase IV, consisting of facilities required to sustaining emergency operation personnel assigned to short and long term events. During the planning, development, construction, and outfitting of the Orlando Operations Center (the "OOC"), serving as the Emergency 9-1-1 Center and Emergency Operations Center for the City of Orlando, the City of Orlando OOC Development Team worked in conjunction with representatives of the Florida State Emergency Response Team (S.E.R.T.) to commingle design and technology instruments into the OOC to mirror that in use at the State of Florida Emergency Operations Center in Tallahassee. The primary purpose of this mirroring of operability allows the OOC to serve the State of Florida in the capacity of a reserve or backup Emergency Operations Center in the event of a critical failure of their facility, or as a second facility, centrally located and remote from the center of State Government Operations. In the time since dedication of the Orlando Operations Center, the short and long term planning for the center is to continue to provide technology and facility upgrades that will maintain the highest level of service, not only to the needs of the City of Orlando, but also to meet the needs of the State of Florida to continue to provide the State of Florida with a complementary emergency operations center. |
