Project Description:
The City of Wauchula, like the rest of Hardee County, is part of a State of Florida designated area of critical economic concern. Among the various factors suppressing the City's opportunity for economic recovery from the devastating impact of the 2004 Hurricane season are the need for expanded wastewater treatment capacity. This project will increase the City's current wastewater treatment capacity from 1 MGD to 3 MGD. The expansion will also include the development of a limited supply of re-use for agricultural purposes. In support of these efforts and in order to comply with FDEP rule 62-600.405 F.A.C.. the city is proceeding with this proposed plan expansion and has executed and submitted a loan agreement to FDEP for SRF pre-construction funding. (See #19 for additional documentation of need).
