This is an extension of a successful 3 year pilot program that worked with Lee County youth arrested on domestic violence battery charges. Successful implementation of this program could serve as a model domestic violence diversion program for other judicial circuits statewide. |

Project Description: |
The Domestic Violence Diversion Program will provide family therapy, multi-family group therapy and individual counseling to 100 diverted juveniles and their parents who have been involved in a domestic violence incident. The program will utilize a proven multi-family group format working with appropriate juveniles and parents together. Other appropriate youth and families will participate in Functional Family Therapy to reduce individual and family risk factors while strengthening family protective factors. |

Measurable Outcome Anticipated: |
85% of youth successfully completing the Domestic Violence Diversion Program will not be re-arrested for any violence-related charge for at least one year following discharge from the program. 75% of juveniles and parents/guardians participating in multifamily group and or family counseling will report enhanced family functioning upon completion of the Domestic Violence Diversion Program.
Of 95 youth who successfully completed the Domestic Violence Diversion Program during 2003-2004 , 90% had not been re-arrested for any violent offense as of June 30th, 2005. |
