Project Description:
The City's Reclaimed Water Transmission System Program is a phased master planned multi-year program for making reclaimed water available for irrigation uses to commercial and residential customers within the City's boundaries. The source of the reclaimed water is the South Central Regional Wastewater Treatment & Disposal Board (SCRWTDB) treatment facility. The program goals include beneficial environmental impacts through the reduction of demand on the drinking water system from irrigation flows, the reduction of withdrawal of ground water for irrigation use, and the reduction of treated wastewater effluent flows directed to the SCRWTDB outfall. The initial phase of the program identified as Area 1, was constructed in 2005 at a cost of $1.8 million and currently provides 0.6 million gallons per day (mgd) of reclaimed water for irrigation to the City's Municipal Golf Course. The current project identified as Areas 2&3 will extend the system to provide reclaimed water service to two (2) additional golf courses and five (5) residential master irrigation systems providing and additional 1.24 mgd of reclaimed water for irrigation.
